The Counselor-in-Training
meetings invite high school youth who are motivated for service
into lively theological conversations with teachers who cherish
youth. A faculty person in residence, provided through a
partner seminary, engages in biblical and practical Christian
explorations with youth who themselves are being shaped to
serve as teachers and leaders in outdoor ministry. These
week-long encounters, blended with the camp's regular training
rhythms, are designed:
- to engage youth with dynamic teachers with a passion
for theology.
- to assist youth in seeing their whole
lives, and their serving at camp, in relation to theology.
- to
assist youth in developing biblical or theological
sensitivity and skill.
Themes and practices that have been explored range from
Luther's spirituality and teachings on prayer, to the Christian's
calling to enter into difficult conversations on moral
issues, to ways to listen to God's voice in our lives.
Teachers also join in numerous camp activities during the
week, building relationships and enjoying all kinds of "holy
conversations."
Three outdoor ministry sites will be served by TEY in the summer of 2008:

TEY will also offer theological exploration for a joint
project of Bear Creek Camp and Camp Nawakwa called LITs.
