Links Project Connect—a wide web of colleges, outdoor ministries, campus ministries, congregations, seminaries, etc. fostering lively
vocational discernment with college-age young adults. Connect
is passionate about young adults and their powers, and is creating a rich array of opportunities for young adults to envision their lives
and God’s world in light of the gospel, and to listen closely for Eastern Cluster of Lutheran Seminaries—the site of the sponsoring
organization for Theological Education with Youth, a dynamic collaboration of three historic schools: the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in
Columbia, SC. Fund for Theological Education—Theological Programs for High School Youth—this site provides information (and Web addresses where available) on the 48 youth theology projects (including TEY) which are taking place across North America in an ecumenically diverse group of seminaries and schools. Way To Live (WTL)—This site is the companion to an excellent book of 18 Christian practices for teens, also entitled Way to Live, with chapters co-written by one youth and one adult. The site features the engaging conversations and probing questions of real teens (a real world public school drama group), presented as “live” vignettes and monologues. A diverse set of “ways” that Christians can live and witness is explored, without a lot of jargon or churchy overlay, but with significant drawing on the rich traditions of Christian spirituality and common life. The Youth Ministry and Spirituality Project (YMSP)—An eight year old initiative seeking to foster a contemplative approach to youth ministry, grounded in a grateful and wise reception of historic Christian spiritual practices. The site includes a wealth of practices and principles, along with research and writing which furnish rich commentary on the development of the initiative. Undergirded by Lilly Endowment grants to San Francisco Theological Seminary, and led by Mark Yaconelli, it has pursued this vision with a stunningly diverse set of spiritual directors and creative artists, youth ministry practitioners and scholars, Christian educators and seekers, with sixteen uncommon/ordinary partner congregations. The Institute for Youth Ministry (IYM)—Centered at Princeton Theological Seminary, IYM offers a wide range of degree and non-degree training programs, research and publications, peer networks and an audio journal, all characterized by high quality theological approaches and mindful engagement with popular culture. Best known for its annual Princeton Forums on Youth Ministry, held in two locations (Princeton and one other region of the U.S.) annually, and its audio journal Cloud of Witnesses. Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC)—a dynamic initiative committed to interfaith cooperation among young people of diverse faith groups. Its twin goals are the fostering of deeper inter-religious under-standing and respect, and significant collaboration in activities which unleash the powers and visions of young people for mending the world, locally and globally. IFYC is led by Dr. Eboo Patel and headquartered in Chicago, where it has developed an innovative model for interfaith programming. |
